I'm the cameraman/director on a shoot and I need a one way communication sytem that allows me to talk to the presenter so that i can tell hime what to do and which questions to ask. It needs to be wireless.

I can't seem to find the right type of equipment. I need:

1. A mic & sender unit for me to talk into
2. An earpeice and receiver for the presenter

Anyone know where I can get or adapt a sytem for this use.

Thanks for reading (and I hope I've posted this in the right section)

I use simple PMR licence free radios. Mine have VOX (voice operated switches) so I can keep both hands free. Take a look here Pama - Walkie Talkies - PMR446 (http://www.pama.com/products/ProductCategory.asp?ClassCode=WTYPE3&GroupCode1=WLKTLK)

Always worth looking at the Canford site - Canford - Professional Audio and Video Equipment (http://www.canford.co.uk) - handy for the actual ear tubes presenters like.

I have used an MP3 FM transmitter like used on ipods etc so they can be used in cars...
They have about 10-15m range, very cheep and the receiver is a standard FM pocket radio tuned to that frequency. Just plug the T/B mic into something to get the level up a bit then into the transmitter.

I used a cheap but good wireless microphone...the Sony UTX-B1. Keep the transmitter/mic in your pocket, and have the presenter with the receiver/earphone. If you need to talk to him, simply talk into the lav mic. If you have 2 sets, you can even do full duplex and everything is crystal clear. No buttons to push, no dropouts or interference. You can find these sets on ebay.

Don't know if it's available in GB, but a brand of wireless intercoms popular here is Eartec. They make a lot of different items, might be worth browsing their line. B&H Photo (bhphotovideo.com) is a vendor in the States.

The Super Sneak - Hidden In-Ear Audio Receiver Kit - eBay (item 150476544926 end time Dec-03-10 14:43:57 PST) (http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Sneak-Hidden-In-Ear-Audio-Receiver-Kit-/150476544926?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230919db9e)

problem is if you work in a loud environment (music on stage or lots of applause) , the power of the earpiece could be not enough, in that case a wired earplug is better.
you can also use this kind of kit with mobile phone.
