This may not be the best place to post, but I want to start designing my own sites, because I'll have more control and it will be cheaper overall.

What are your recommendations, esp. to help create sites with some video in it? Should I bother with Flash at all? This is all for my Mac (iBook G3 800 mhz, Panther).

Is there a free, but powerful, web design software for Mac?

Thanks,

Heath

Heh, heh... yep there are several that are already on your mac....

/usr/bin/vi
/usr/bin/ssh
/usr/bin/ftp
/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

These are all I use to build/maintain two websites by writing html code directly. But I'm not doing anything too "sexy" either. Probably not the solution you're looking for, but for those of us with unix backgrounds it's great to finally have the old familiar tools under the hood on the mac :-)

Boyd,

That's awesome! I have about 3 friends, now 4 (incl. you), who are Unix Geeks!

What I'm looking for is power, but simplicity.
