Hi there

Ive just bought a 7d along with various gear after seeing some amazing examples of the work they are producing. I currently do all my work on an EX1 at 1270x720 at 50FS. I film in this mode as I think there are less artifacts etc when rendering down to SDV for DVD output.

I plan to use the 7D for short film work which are mainly destined for education resource DVD's or online web viewing.

What I'd like to know is if users on here have been shooting at full HD or are using the 720p settings? Has anyone noticed much difference in output between the two when rendering to SDV?

Should I just keep shooting at 720p settings like I have been as the same principles apply?

Would appreciate hearing your experience!

Jamie

Welcome to the madness! (dslrs that is!)

I chose as my default 1080. It looks fantastic and since most of my projects get scaled down anyway, it gives me flexibility in post to zoom and reframe shots with no loss of quality.

Going to DVD is one of the gnarliest topics on this forum and we all seem to have ways of dealing with it. I'm happy with my workflow and results to DVD and other small formats.
The only reason I'd shoot 720 is if a client requested it or I wanted to do 60fps.

The 720 mode on these cameras is really unimpressive, way more moire and way less quality than in 1080.
