Familiar with the movie "Top Gun?"
**Spoiler Alert below**

I am looking for what I will call a 'death theme', similar to the one that is heard when Tom Cruise's best friend is killed at the end of Top Gun (no, not the Berlin tune) and is played at length in that sad montage in that film. A likable character will be killed off in my production, and I'd like a theme similar to that used in that movie to accentuate the visuals. Can someone point me to a post-production music CD/etc. that might give me what I'm looking for?
I use Acid and Soundforge.

Dale:

do you have a sample of the original piece?

If you could send me something, I may be able to create something similar in Acid Pro.

I uploaded the mp3 file (it's a low quality copy cause I'm using dialup on this machine). I like the tempo, the instruments used, and what it evokes with what I have in mind. The melody the third time around almost sounds like some subtle choir/voices were added.

Anyway, the link above gives you what I have in mind for killing off a likable character--evoking sadness.

As you can hear, guys, it's a beautiful tune---even with my poor quality copy. Alas, it is a part of "Top Gun" and I can't use it as it is.
Suggestions on where to look for something like it are welcomed.
