Tiffen Introduces Steadicam Scout for Video and Film Production at IBC 2010

Tiffen International introduces the new Steadicam SCOUT at IBC2010 Stand 11.C40. The Scout is based on the Steadicam's established award-winning technology but with a new design that offers many innovative features and benefits.

"Style, functionality, flexibility and affordability" are all wrapped in the new Steadicam Scout. A combination of innovative features derived from our popular PILOT, FLYER, ZEPHYR and ARCHER2 Steadicam systems now allows the Scout to "excel in the range of operating possibilities," said Frank Rush, VP, General Manager of Steadicam.

With a new innovative approach to camera stabilizer design, the Steadicam Scout has the all the quality and features needed to get the job done at an affordable price. The Scout offers a 5lb-18lb (2.3 - 8kg) camera payload capacity and includes a soft case, with integral custom foam for sled storage, that provides for the insertion of a travel cart into a rear sleeve for easy transport.

Scout's components are designed for precision, flexibility and ease of use. Scout features a newly designed sled assembly (camera mounting platform) that works with 12-volt cameras. The robust carbon fibre no-tools extendable post includes a safety mechanism to stop it separating. The index system keeps all parts in alignment. A proprietary friction-free gimbal assembly with a large knurled extended handle is designed to fit securely in the operator's hand. Precision adjustment of the stage assures exacting balance of the camera to the rig.

The Scout vest is a continuation of the comfortable Flyer vest. An ergonomic fit of the breastplate combined with solid metal shoulder fasteners assures a new comfort level for extended use and a secure fit. New vest and pad covers are easily removed for cleaning or replacement offering extended durability.

The new tools-free patented Iso-Elastic stabilizer arm supports the camera. The no-tools arm/vest interface allows for quick customization for individual operators. On-the-fly weight adjustment frees the operator from dismounting the system to make changes. The open design of the arm has freedom of movement unknown in this weight class, and the Scout's adjustable and interchangeable arm post assembly is a feature usually only found on more expensive systems. The two-section arm can also be separated for compact storage and transport.

The new 7-inch Scout Steadicam colour LCD monitor features enhanced image quality and a wide viewing angle. Even under bright sunlight this monitor is ideal for field production use.

The Scout's lightweight aluminium dovetail stage was designed for camera mounting stability. Steadicam Scout - Explore the Possibilities.
