Did Vegas 8.1 have a problem with rendering nested veg files with m2t and jpg files? I tried to render a nested project with 5 source projects to a mpg file and the render time was outrageous. The length of the entire project was 49 minutes. I cancelled the render at about 1 hour but it had at least 15 hours to go and counting, and this was on my new Win 7 I7 930 with 6GB RAM. Processor utilization was only about 12%. I was able to render each project individually to mpg without a problem and processor utilization was in the 90s. RAM preview at 350MB, 16 threads.
I then rendered each m2t and jpg project to an intermediate mxf file, and built a new project veg nest with the mxf files. I rendered it to mpg without a problem.
If it is an 8.1 problem, I know nothing can be done about it. I just want to know if there's something I did wrong. I know I can avoid the problem by either avoiding nesting, which I really like, or use mxf files. I'll upgrade to Vegas 10 when the time comes.
Thanks.
