Hey ya'll...

I own a HF S 20 and I'm very pleased with it (although there is a stupid rattle whenever the lens cover is closed). Anyway, I was wondering if the lens hood from the Canon XH A1s would fit on my S20 ? I know the A1s and S20 uses different filter size but thats why I would put a step-up ring in between ?

That rattle is just the OIS mechanism sliding around. Any video camera with mechanical image stabilization will do that. It's normal -- if you *didn't* hear that sound, it would be an indication of a problem.

The lens hood from the XH series will not fit on the HF S series. Hope this helps,

What if I use step-up rings from 58 to 72 mm ?

I use a lens hood from the XH A1 to fit to my JVC HD7. It was attached though to a Raynox wide angle lens.
