I was wondering if anyone in this forum had any suggestions for where to look if I wanted to take a course in Sound Editing and Design. I was looking at Maine Media but thought that it would be a good idea to broaden my scope a little so that I know that I'm making the right decision. Thanks for the help!

It would help if you indicated where you are based, how far you are willing to travel, if it is full part time and what you background experience is.

None of what follows is aimed at the institution that you are looking at, it's just general input.

After seeing some friends get sucked into the 'Art Institute of America' and 'Full Sail' I've learned that...

... phrases... in this case like 'Sound Editing and Design'... are used as often to cloak as to reveal. Just WTF does the institution provide? You need to compare the details, not the labels.

... it doesn't mean 'boo!' when someone says that they are accredited, what matters is by WHO they're accredited. Reputable colleges are accredited by more then the ' Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges'!!!

... there are a ton of non-profit community colleges that may well teach you everything that you desire without crippling you with debt. For example the CC where I'm camped out offers an absolute ton of 'entertainment focused' classes including:

Beg Studio Recording
Intermediate Studio Recording
Advanced Studio Recording I
Advanced Studio Recording II
MIDI & Computer Recording
Radio Production

Luck.
