New Paths in the Mideast - Slide Show - NYTimes.com (http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2010/08/06/fashion/20100808-abroad-slideshow.html)
What do you guys think about these photographs, in a NYTimes slideshow?
They look totally weird to me. Esp. that rollercoaster one.
Think they are all frame grabs?

Interesting colour treatment. It's almost like when you have video that is under exposed, then you correct it, and have to boost the saturation to resurrect something worthy of watching.
A bit like what I did with some VHS footage that I "rescued" off tape recently.

That does seem to be a LOT of processing for "news" pictures... Some of the backgrounds, the roller coaster & the "students on break" pics especially, look very very suspect.

That grainyness ... still image function off a videocam? Or some sort of POV cam? (The rollercoaster one though is just wacky.)

the restaurant is just wrong with light.(look the dull background, no shadows and the foreground table with sunset shadows)
