apparently these two vids show examples of a ruined sensor because of the lights, one of the guys was able to get his fixed on warranty, not so sure about the other

Aiming the Laser into the crowed like that can also damage eyes. No warranty

If this had been an event in the UK then scanning the crowd in this way would be frowned on. A person up a truss doing it by hand even more so!

Laser scanning the audience, if it causes damage to eyes or equipment could be something with a legal remedy - possibly important if equipment is wrecked by the action of others that warranty may not (if they get many claims) cover.

Yeah, I agree that really isn't safe. While I wouldn't want that to happen to my camera, I'd be even more scared what it'd do to my eyes.
