It was quite a shock last night to go down to Sams Club and discover that they did away with this brand & no longer carry them. Been buying them there since 2002+2003!

The price was right.... about $20 for 8 tape model DVM 60SE. They have "ME" marked on them.

Trying to find a source to replace Sams online thus far has been challenging.

I find a decent price and they kill you with the shipping, sometimes ridiculously so. OR:

The prices average $6-10 and up for each one.

Sams cost was less than $3 each.

Their Panasonic PQ tapes are actually cheaper than the Maxell tapes. They also do quantity discounts, and if I remember the shipping wasn't outrageous.

Taperesources.com is currently running Sony PRR's for $1.90ea in quantity (or $2 ea)

For me, at least, they ship next day (proximity, not necessarily because I'm awesome).

Panasonic no longer import their DV cleaner tapes to Oz. I'd keep an eye on other brand/type cancellations and stock up on your favourite if you intend to keep using it.

IMO when DV tape sales drop below a certain level the majors will sell their plants to start up companies who want to make a quick buck. They'll cut costs by using cheaper print, cases and eventually drop some quality control. I owned a major cassette duplicating plant and saw this happen with audio cassettes > CDs.

If it wasn't for the 3rd world we'd have seen the end of mag tape by now. That's progress!
