Curious as to some options for shooting macro shots of things (flowers, wedding bands, etc).
Some lower cost alternatives to an actual macro lens would also be good so I can get something temporary.
I hear extension tubes? But how would I know which tubes fit the xl h1a?

Jmes, I have had great success using diopters. they usually come in sets of three and screw right onto the front of the lens like a filter. I use them for videoing insects. Far cheaper and lighter than a macro lens. Bob

Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like something I will check out first.

Before spending money, experiment first with the built-in macro mode
and see how it works for you: take off the lens hood. Zoom out to full
wide. Provide light. You'll be able to focus on small objects held right
up to the glass on the front objective of the lens.
