Has anyone used the Matrox Mini with the Avid for critical monitoring?

Thanks,

I was, too, as I worked on learning MC5. Until Matrox released the new 3.0 drivers a few days ago. Those work only PPro CS5 which has been my main editing program. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to rig a set up where I can use the 2.2 drivers with MC5 and the 3 drivers with PPro CS5.

JAY: from my experience it's hard to side step around Avid's workflow (drivers, system requirments etc etc). Let me know if you come up with anything.

FORD: Any issues or concerns you might have?

Cheers,
OSMAN

Matrox released the 3.01 software for the Mini and now it works with both PPro and MC5. It has not yet been certified by Avid but the new software has not been out very long.

"Critical Monitoring" means Accurate colors and in no way does the Mini convert a consumer display (ie HDTV) into something that provides accurate colors like an Eizo CG243W, HP Dreamcolor, etc...

An image looks very DIFFERENT on an HDTV connected to the Mini when compared to the same image on an Eizo CG243W which is calibrated to Rec 709. I have tested this as I have the Mini and the Eizo.

does it make any sense at all - in terms of color correction - to use the matrox mini (or the aja io express) if you use a eizo or something similar?
if so, what are the benefits?
