ok so i want some names of any good movies made on dv so i can get some ideas of what to (not) do. just to kinda critique and be inspired...

if there are any that yall know of that are rentable from a blockbuster, that would be fantastic.

Do a search in the forum search field. This question comes up every couple months or so.

Look for "28 Days Later", "The Celebration", "Open Water".

That'll get you started.

I shot my niece's birthday on DV last week and made a nice DVD. Can I add that to the list?? lol

In the last few months I've come to realize it doesn't matter what camera or format you use. It really doesn't matter at all in 2005. If you have lots of cash you shoot film...if you don't use video. It's all about cash...unfortunately.

Well it depends what you mean by good. Visually, or narratively? I mean you don't need DV movies to see if one's narratively good, and most DV (If you mean DV25, and not HD) look crappyish anyway. But one example that springs to mind as one absolutely awfully looking movie shot on DV, but one I really loved was Bamboozled by Spike Lee.

It took me about 10 minutes to get over the fact that it was shot on a handycam type camera (I think they used VX1000's) but once I settled in it was great.

They cut "November" on an AvidXpressPro laptop.

You can find so many movies shot using some form of DV these days. Are you talking low budget that has been distributed of big blockbusters that integrate DV? Once you get into the story it shouldn't matter what it is shot on. Unless you consider yourself a "filmsnob" or a "DV geek". Good Luck!

Isn't even the new movie from Steve Buscemi (Lonesome Jim) shot on a DVX100?

Every year lots of Asian films are released that were filmed originally on MiniDV or other video format. So if any of you exhaust the trickle of western films that were made on DV you can walk over to your Chinatown and catch any number of Asian DV films.

To add to the list, I would recommend the excellent 'ivansxtc'.
