Hey, here's what I'm doing...playing guitar through an amplifier. The amp is mic'd with a dynamic mic (Shure SM57) plugged directly into the XHA1. Mic attenuation is on. I'm playing along to an mp3 player with headphones. I upload the footage to Vegas. I import the same mp3 I was listening to on my portable player. I upload the video/audio from the camera and sync. It starts out in sync for the first few measures. By the time it gets to the end it's completely out of sync. I'm using a Sony miniDV tape that already had stuff on it, could that be an issue? This isn't really that important of a project, so I didn't want to use up a new tape for it. Thanks.

I may have figured it out. I just did some recording into Cubase and when I recorded with the track playing in Cubase I was on time, but when I recorded while playing along with the mp3 player into Cubase it fell out of time. I think the mp3 player isn't playing consistently. Hmm.

I no audio guru but I think it has to do with the htz that they record at and mp3 is different hence you are getting drift. I think if you record as wav at 48khtz it should be ok. This is in PAL land, not sure if audio is different in NTSC world

It was definitely the mp3 player. When I switched from my mp3 player to the mp3 in Cubase I had to retune my guitar to match the track. The mp3 player apparently plays a little slower than my pc. Never seen that happen before.

That is pretty strange! In fact I didn't think that could happen.

Good to know in future though,

Thanks
