There is a meeting at the Newark Airport Hilton in Elizabeth, New Jersey on the 8th of September. I want to get a price for someone to shoot each of the presentations.

The meeting is the Annual SDS/MSA Support Group meeting and there are a number of speakers:

9:00 A.M. Medical Presentations
10:30 A.M. Break & Snacks
10:45 A.M. Medical Presentations
12:00 Noon Lunch
1:00 P.M. Medical Presentations
2:15 P.M. Break & Snacks
2:30 P.M. Medical Panel - Q & A
4:00 P.M. Patient/Caregiver/Survivor Breakout Sessions
5:00 P.M. Conference Closing

Why? - well my father at 82 years of age has become the full time carer for his wife (67 yrs) because she is suffering from MSA - Multiple System Atrophy - and yes- it's as bad as it sounds.

Multiple System Atrophy Awareness (http://www.msaawareness.org)

he can't afford to fly over for the conference (we're in Australia) so I suggested we hire someone to film the speakers and then not only can we watch the presentations but we can make the finished product available to the organisers to distribute to members and other interested parties who couldn't make the meeting. .

I don't want to ask for a freebie (I've done too many of them myself) but if you're close the the place (I've literally got no idea where it is) and you're free on the day PM me with a quote and let me know what equip you got for the job and I'll pay via paypal if that's okay. As an alternative you could just shoot it and ship me the footage to edit.

cheers

Paul

and the good new is - we have a budget! - the support group feel the video is a great idea and want to pay half the cost and sell the DVD to their members as a fundraiser.

I've had a couple of replies but if anyone else is free PM me and we'll go from there.

Cheers

A couple of years ago I hired a guy from the forum to assist me on a shoot at Rugers University Equine Science Dept.. We used Canon XLH1's and a Canon 7d back then. Unfortunately I can't remember your name, and can't find your contact info (pre iphone era :))
If you're still around, please get in touch.because I have another shoot comming up on Sept 29 in Freehold N.J.

I'm doing a 2 cam shoot , plus a photography, for an all day shoot on Sept 29 in Freehold, NJ. It's an event to sponsor amateur harness racing and an Equine students' scholarship fund,
I'll be comming up from Fla, and will need an aditonal shooter, plus a photographer. I shoot on a Sony FS100, and also have a Sony Nex 5u, which I'll also bring.
There are several activities going on simultaneously in different locations throughout the day, ending with a short concert in the evening. As for the other shooter- I need someone who is very experienced and omfortable in live event shooting and can move around on their own. I want to keep the look uniform, so it would be great to find someone who has or is eperienced shooting with either or both cameras. Also, if you have an additional wireless with hand held mic plug, that woulf\d be good. On cam light for evening.
As for a photographer- has to be someone who can move around and is experienced in live event shooting. No editing necessary. I prefer a canon shooter, so I can give you cf cards to use, and edit in our work flow.
Please contact me with your contact info.
Thanks

Hi,

I'm looking to take some lessons from someone about shooting with camcorders. I have a low to middle range camcorder with tripod, shotgun, monitor, etc. and would like to learn about filming, settings on the camera, terms, etc.

My plan would be to probably come to your area and have you teach me one day and then depending on how much I can take in, I can come back the next day, or maybe one day is enough.

Not sure what your price would be, I don't want any freebies. I believe you deserve to be compensated. I do however appreciate any consideration you would give to the fact that I am new and don't have the funding of someone who may do this for a living.

Please PM me and we can get something set.

I'll drive anywhere in Indiana (for a weekend type lesson) or to some close places in Ohio, like Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus.

Thanks very much, have a wonderful day.

What kind of camera are you working with and what exactly are you hoping to learn? A little background on what you know/ what you have done would be a good starting place.

What kind of things are you interested in shooting?

I have a gig shooting airplanes in northern Indiana the beginning of October. No pay, but good practice tracking near/far and fast/slow airplanes.

You would be welcome to join me.

Bob,
I am in Dayton and may be able to help, but here are a couple of ideas.

1. Is there a technical school in your area. If so see if they have broadcasting or video production. A good way to learn and get started.

2. What about your local Public Access Channel? Many of them have basic classes and people of varying levels of experience. You might be able to find someone to show you the ropes if you help crew one of their productions.

It might save you on some travel.

PAID GIG: We need a couple of quick customer testimonials shot in Tallahasse and Melbourne within the next 2 weeks or so. This is a paying gig, needs to be shot with at least a semi-pro camera and high quality audio. We only need about 45-90 seconds of finished video and will be delivered to us via ftp in h.264. (The wrapper doesn't really matter.)

If you're available and interested, please drop me a line so we can connect. Thanks!

Hey guys, quick story. I'm looking to travel around europe some soon, possibly late september or october. I have friends living in Germany, Denmark, and England I could stay with. The thing I'm trying to figure out now is getting a few shoots/jobs while I'm over to get some money. Thought I'd just see on here if there's anyone in europe who could use a helping hand or has friends who would need a video/photoshoot. My portfolio is at EBourcier Creative (http://ebourcier.com)

Also interested in anyone who'd let a fellow videographer crash on their floor ;)

Thanks,
Evan

Evan, that could be a tough call, on a visitors visa you need time to see the country and not work your time away.

Be better when you get there and hopefully be in the right time at the right place.
I remember my first trip, the best advice I got was to have banked the return fare.
Bon voyage, take care and good luck.

Cheers.

We got two of them for an event in Palm Beach, FL. They shipped on time and were easy to work with. Gear was in good shape and complete except for the built-in shotgun mic holder, which I didn't need.

I think they're in Chicago.

I've been operating locally and day-tripping for a few years now, and am looking to extend beyond and (hopefully) to bigger projects. Documentary, ENG, corporate, and scientific work forms the bulk of my reel, with clients including Sports Illustrated, Reel Life Films, Discovery Education, JOVE.com, StudioNow, and more. Venturing beyond this style would be a welcomed change.

I own an easily-mobile complete 2-camera package (AF100 + GH2 (hacked)) with lighting, have reliable all-weather trasportation, take directions easily, and by most reports don't suck to be around. For more information about me and links to professional and personal work, visit:

Our client needs some interviews and b-roll shot at a partner facility in Jordan, UT on 9/20 @2PM. This should only take a half day and the deliverable will be the raw footage. If you're interested, you should have a 24p HD camera, good lav mic and a light kit. Here's an example of what we want. Interviews start about 4:20: DealersUnited: TimeHighway - YouTube (http://youtu.be/5QxSQH5wiY4)

Just to update anyone who's interested - I had a number of replies but Alex K was close to the action and ready to to the job. Even though we're on different continents in different time zones, things were easily organised and Alex did a terrific job on the day.

Without the forum I wouldn't have known where to start - I trust Chris won't mind a thanks to the DVinfo forum in the final credits of the DVD which will be distributed to people in Australia, the UK, Canada & the US. The proceeds will go to funding research into the little known condition of MSA - Multiple System Atrophy.

Thanks Alex

I need an experienced shooter for doing interviews and general meeting/seminar shooting next week in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia. I will be shooting with an EX-3 (or possibly XF305) directly to a field recorder (PIX 240), so please have a camera of that type available. No tape as everything will be recorded to cards/recorders. We will be shooting classroom settings, interviews outside, and also audience reactions to controlled electrical explosions. I will be lighting interviews with Lite Panels.

Also looking for an audio grip to handle the interviews. I'm using wireless lav mics, but the client is interested in using booms.

Please send me an e-mail with your availability, your day rate, and any details you have.

Thanks!

Found someone... No longer looking.

Just got a new camera and are looking to make some money? Want a reason to film people on the street?

We are looking for people in ANY country besides America (we have that covered) to ask questions to people on the street and have a short, one to two minute conversation with them. We will provide three question for you to ask three different people, and waivers for the interviewees to sign. Then, send us the raw footage and a scan of the waivers, and we will send you $50 USD. English is preferable, but if the answers are in a different language, we will work out a separate fee for a typed out transcript. Note: this footage will never be publicly available online.

Why do we want this? We are working on a self paced learning curriculum for children, and would like to provide an around the world perspective to how people from different countries view the world.

For instance, a question might be, “What makes someone a hero?” or “What do you think friendship is all about?” They are not particularly hard questions, but we want you to get the person talking for a minute or so by asking simple follow up questions based on how they answer.

This video is for younger children, so please do not use profanity (if interviewee does, we will edit it out), and look for modestly dressed people (no cleavage, bikinis, etc.). You can use any camera, preferably with a shotgun mic attached to it. Payment will be made through Paypal when we receive the footage.

If we like your work, there will be bigger additional paid shooting opportunities in the next year.

Please reply or email veritasvideos1@gmail.com if you are interested. Thanks!

It always amazes me how quickly the DV Info network of people are quick to help.
Warren, I'm already in Maui and unable to get Oahu. I is a small shoot and I may be able to make it through the last interview with what little battery I have left.
Kevin, I'm going to check out Lighthouse Camera as soon as they open.

Oops, I didn't realize you were already on Maui and needed it yesterday. Another possibility is this Craigslist ad, he's selling the camera/batts/charger and could let you loan/rent it. I'm quite sure batts for the 2100 and Z1 are the same.

Is there a camera rental place in Salt Lake City that has tripods for rent? I need to borrow or rent a tripod for my XHA1. I'm not getting paid for this gig, so as cheaply as possible. The date of the event is 10/11/12. I'm flying in Tuesday the 9th.

Mesg me through the board if you know of a place, or have a tripod available.

The problem is, even though his wedding is in Utah, he has been moved by his company back to Oregon. It's also going to be spendy to ship a big libec two ways.

I tried looking for rental houses in the yellow pages, but kept coming up empty.

Hi everyone!
Have run across a job opening I am not qualified for and thought I'd put it out there.
Essentially the company that contacted me needs a senior level motion graphics artist. This is a full time gig with salary. They are looking for full-on 3D compositing and the absolute highest level users of AE and beyond. Cinema 4D and AE were listed in the requirements but an example they showed was done in Flame and Nuke.
If you fit this level of motion graphics artist send me a link to your reel and your contact info and ill forward it to my contact.
Time is of the essence and they are looking to hire soon!

Seeking crew members for a 2-day interview-based video shoot in Macon, GA 11/13-11/14/2012

1 HDSLR owner/operator to shoot 2nd for me. Canon DSLR a must, APS-C sensor preferred (though full-frame owners will not be ignored outright). Zooms are a must, with an available range of at least 24-100mm (not necessarily one lens) and aperture of f/4 or wider.

1 sound mixer with equipment. We're shooting double system, so disk-based stereo recorder is a must (though timecode is not necessary). I'm comfortable with candidates suggesting specific packages, though, for reference, all the work so far has been recorded with lav and boom to separate channels.

Also seeking to hire some gear locally - 2x Kino Diva 400 (or similar) with stands, and 1x fluid head tripod. We would LOVE it if one of the 2 crew members we're seeking could provide this service as well.

Please send rates, resumes, and reels to dave@kineticfin.com

Mark,
Forgive my confusion. I'm not in the Dallas area, so I'm not applying for the work, but am seeking clarification for others' sake:
You mention shooting "...in a controlled studio environment", yet you seem to be describing an on-location-at-the-law-firm shoot. I don't mean to be picky/rude, but are the interviews held in a studio local to the Dallas area, or at the law firms' office(s)?
Thanks.
