Good Morning,

I have a paculiar situation. I came fromt the xl2 so this kind of mystifies me.

I am running my wireless to xlr ch1 and my xlr shotgun mic to xlr ch 2

When I set the camera to channel 1/2 I only get channel 1, no channel 2

I run through the monitor set up positions to no avail.

If I set to channel 1

then run through the monitor set up I can get each mic on their own channel, which is perfect.

What the heck is that about?? I have been doing it this way for two years and I find it frustrating that it isn't as simple as setting to ch1/2.

I have been through the manual a few times over it.

Getting by, but it just aint right, it just aint right.

so is it, "What the heck am I missing ?" or is my camera messed up?

When I set the camera to channel 1/2 I only get channel 1, no channel 2Sorry but that is as it should be. The function of the Ch. 1/2 switch is to copy Ch.1 over to Ch. 2 (thereby disabling any input that was plugged into Ch. 2). What you're describing is the normal function of the Ch. 1/2 switch. Hope this helps,

while we're on the subject i need to ask: are channel 1 & 2 mono? here's why i ask ... i have 2 Sony lavilier mics being used. both stereo XLR output. one in channel 1 and the other in channel 2. when i fire everything up i hear one channel in my left ear and the other in my right. after copying the .mov file (i use the FS-CV) it's still channel 1 on the left and channel 2 on the right? i have tried many variations with the switches which don't seem to actually do what they appear to say to no avail.

are these really mono inputs? does this camera really literally only have 2 mono audio channels?

btw i solved the problem by purchasing a mixer but it would be great to know.

Like all other professional-grade camcorders in its class, the XLR audio inputs on the Canon XL H, XL, XH and XF series are each one discrete monophonic channel. If you need a stereo pair, you can get it from Ch. 1 and Ch. 2 together.

Well,

It did not seem to me that was how the xl2 was orchestrqted, but who cares as long as you can make the audio like you want!!!
