Never used a Fig Rig but I saw one in use with a camera much smaller and lighter than the NX5U.

I liked it because it looked very easy to handle. The guy let me hold the camera alone and then the camera mounted on the Fig Rig... big difference. Fig Rig really did make a difference.

Please share your comments on using the NX5U or cameras of similar size and weight (or larger:) on such a stablizer as the Fig Rig.

And what alternatives exist that are easy to use and not to cumbersom, etc.

What are some of the advantages and styles of shots you can get with a fig rig?

I'm looking at ideally a shoulder mount for ENG style work but wouldn't mind looking into a fig rig for weddings/music videos.

The shots I use it for are reveal shots, close up and glide shots. It helps stabilize the camera. It has its limits, but used correctly will give great results. Hope this helps.

They are both the same except the mounts. I have the one without the mounts.

I prefer the Fig to the Halo, but as mentioned they do allow you to get some amazing shots with practice. You can do all your basic and compound camera movements with it (pan, tilt, crab, push in/out, crane up/down, spin, or a combination of above.)

The Halo is certainly an easier price point, but the Fig isn't all that pricey to begin with.
