Hey everyone,

I'm looking for advice on whether to sell my Canon XH-A1 HDV camera and move either to one of the new tapeless cameras like JVC's GY-HM100u or using my exsisting inventory of canon lenses move the the new DSLR HD recording platform and it's capabilities.

Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated.

What do you need this cam for? What audio quality do you need? Shooting long sequences or short ones?

And then, will your computer handle the hard-to-edit AVCHD? Or are you upgrading that too?

You need to give out more info in order to get good advice.

I shoot everything from short family video's and events to eventually getting to short films. I'm not opposed to updating my computing platform. I currently have 2 Macs. The one I primarily use is a Macbook Pro, duo core, with 2 gigs of RAM and FCP Studio.

I like the portability of the DSLR but there something about having a more professional looking rig that makes customers feel a little more at ease.

Unless you're unhappy with the quality of your video, I'd stay with the A1.

I agree with Ervin. Stick with the A1 and maybe buy a T2i to use as a 'b' camera and to play around with.
