Hi all,

I just checked the manual but I am still not sure if I could use a 1/8 mini jack microphone on my DOP's EX-1. Maybe it needs a mini-jack to xlr adapter?

The only audio inputs on the EX1 are the 2 XLR sockets - you will need an adaptor, perhaps one of these

CANFORD ELECTRET MICROPHONE ADAPTER 3.5mm jack (http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/21243/20-769_CANFORD-ELECTRET-MICROPHONE-ADAPTER-35mm-jack)

depending whether your mic needs any power.

Here's another possibility:
Rode | VXLR - Mono Mini-Jack to XLR Converter | VXLR | B&H Photo

I have two of them but they wouldn't work for my Sennheiser lavs so I had to go WAY more expensive with this one:
Sennheiser MZA900P P48 Phantom Power Adapter | Full Compass (http://www.fullcompass.com/product/355773.html)

With any luck, you will be able to use one of the cheap ones, but just wanted to warn you that they don't always work right out of the box.

The best solution is to use a balanced chord. Most good wireless receivers come with them, or you can get them as an accessory.

The cable is actually easy to make if you have an unbalanced source, much better than using adapters. If it is a very short run this will work OK. But longer runs really should be balanced.
