I am looking for recommendations for a windscreen on my stock mic on my sony z5u. Is Rycote the only one who makes a windscreen any more, and does any one know the mic dimensions? Thanks,
Jeff

Is Rycote the only one who makes a windscreen any more, and does any one know the mic dimensions? Thanks, Rycote is the best and they should know what you need for t if you give them a shout. If you know the model number of the mic. on the camera you can search on Rycote's website HERE (http://www.rycote.com/resources/microphone_search/microphones_and_camcorders/). Jeff Mayne May 10th, 2010, 08:56 AM John, thanks for the reply; I have looked throught the chart and there is no z5u or comparable camera listed so I will just call B and H and talk with a sales rep. Thanks for the help... Rick Reineke May 10th, 2010, 10:05 AM First, I would measure the front tip to end of interference tube ports length, (plus an inch or so) and the mic's diameter. Contact Windtech or B&H with the specs. Jeff Mayne May 12th, 2010, 10:22 AM Yeah, I've read good reviews about them on the net, again, thanks for the link! John Willett May 13th, 2010, 06:55 AM And work the same. For that matter. Not unless they understand the science behind the design. Vincent Rozenberg May 13th, 2010, 07:02 AM @ John: What do you mean? Do you have bad experiences with Reinhardt? If so, can you tell me? I'm pretty pleased with the furry's from Reinhardt I use on my ENG cams, planning buying more for the my new pmw 350's. Any user experience is welcome. John Willett May 17th, 2010, 09:58 AM @ John: What do you mean? Do you have bad experiences with Reinhardt? No, I have not had bad experience and have not used the Reinhardt in anger. It's just that a lot of the Rycote copies I have seen are copied without the person copying fully understanding all the science behind the design. There are good scientific reasons why the Rycote fur is as it is and constructed as it is and windshielding & shock-mounting is not as simple as most people seem to think it is. In fact, not as simple as I used to think it was, before I started talking to people who really knew and understood the science behind the designs and why each part is as it is. Vincent Rozenberg May 17th, 2010, 10:42 AM From what I am told is that Reinhardt is a "full" company with own R&D. Their "flagship" wind solutions are quite different then Rycote's, so I wouldn't put them on the shelf of cheap knock offs. |
