Since all companies are not going to send their cameras back to be repaired with this firmware upgrade, how long will it take to have tapeworks and other companies to have the new firmware cameras. I am guessing it will be sometime considering they are made in Japan. Thoughts?

I'll call on Monday and find out what I can, but I can't imagine it'll be relatively soon. Current stock will have to be depleted (heavily minimized) and then the next batches will become available. From Japan they go to the main shipping areas of Sony in the US, and then the resellers. It's quite a lengthy process but I'll post if I know anything further.

Hey, Andy. I'll try to get an answer in the next day or so. I've been very busy lately, and producing a sitcom for ABC has taken just about every moment of every day out of me.....but I'll see what I can find!

1 - What firmware upgrade?
I'm about to buy one of these cams from a dealer tomorrow... HXR-NX5U and am now wondering what firmware it has.
2 - What does the upgrade do?
3 - Can the firmware upgrade be installed in an NX cam with the older firmware? (Can you download and do it or are you stuck with the older firmware if that is what you have?)
4 - How can I tell what firmware is in the cam?
5 - and, what is the going price for these cams with the 128GB flash drive?
Thanks for any help.

Check out the thread "Firmware 2.0 now available" on this forum. It has all the details. The firmware is a download from Sony. It corrects a buffer overflow issue that happens in some recording setups. You can tell if you need it by the serial number on the bottom of the camera.
