Hi there

Has anybody been using the EX1 with the Electro-Voice 635A handheld microphone for interview purposes etc.

I need a microphone with low handling sensitivity (can be held in hand) to do a series of 'on the spot' interviews for a project Im working on.

This one sounds good and isnt too expensive. Just wondering if the signal to EX1 is loud enough and it doesnt need any extra pre-amping etc.

I use the Beyer 58 a microphone that is used by many TV crews around the world.

I have used one of my EV 635A mics with my EX1 and didn't notice any particular level mismatches.

The EV RE-50 is simply a larger exo-skeleton and extra padding with a 635 inside. The 635 doesn't have unusual handling or wind noise IME, The RE-50 outside case is sheet-metal and not rugged enough for hammering nails. There are other EV mic models that are famous as the "Buchanan Hammer", notably the 664.

I've owned a 635A for over 30 years and I used to use it a lot ... however, there are so many better mics on the market today than there were way back then.
HOWEVER, if you are on a shoestring budget, then the 635A should do you.
