I'm finally moving to Vegas for my full time editor. I've been using Liquid for years and really like it, but it is an end of life product now. I just built a new PC and realized I lost my installation discs for Liquid. I've been playing with Vegas 6 on my laptop for a little over a year now. Anyway, I just paid for the upgrade to 9 and I wondering about set-up during the initial installation. In Liquid I have the program on my C drive, I saved projects on my graphics drive. I captured to my Video I drive and then had a Video II drive for rendered files. Since I'm only use to Vegas on my laptop, 1 drive, I'm not sure what is the best way to optimize the installation on multiple drives. Any advice would be helpful. Most of my footage now is HDV 1080i.

Install at the default location (which will be the C drive). After installing, go to File - Properties and change the various folders listed there as desired. Then go to Options - Preferences and change the various folders listed there. That will let you get the temporary, pre-renders, and audio captures off the C drive.

If you capture from tape, you'll also need to adjust the captures to capture to a different drive.

Thanks. Quick question and many more to come since I really need to learn Vegas now, is it better to have a capture drive and a render drive, or is there a benefit to strip the 2 together for 1 drive? I have 2 500 gb sata drives for video currently set as capture and render.

If you have two drives, it certainly doesn't hurt to keep them separate.
