This image was posted elsewhere on the Web for a day and then pulled down. It looks like photoshop magic to me as well. I spoke to a couple people at Sony about it and they hadn't heard about such a product.

This is the prototype that was shown at NAB. It's not photoshop, the unit exists. Whether it works or not is another question altogether.

The best thing is, because it's 3D, we don't even need a viewfinder anymore.

I hope this gets really, really developed and doesn't end up costing too much.

GOOD 3D for the Indie world would be great, at least for the El Mariachi Indie World :D.

While I welcome this camera and do hope it comes to market soon, it has to be remembered that for 3D one of the key production requirements is the ability to adjust the interaxial depending on the scene being shot. Apparently the new camera will incorporate some kind of interaxial adjustment, but the pictures of the prototype suggest that this will be limited in scope. So while this camera will be useful for some types of scenes and some productions, for many shots it will not be suitable. A traditional pair of cameras with mirror rig and side by side mount will still be more flexible and versatile, capable of doing just about any type of shot you need. A simple twin lens camera like this will be useful for run and gun documentary, but, it is not going to be the answer to everyone's 3D prayers, simply another tool in the stereographers toolbox.

What I'm excited about is the new 35mm sized camera also announced at NAB. A pair of those in a 3D rig would present a very interesting proposition.
