On a related note, are the batteries that came with the first EX1's still working for everybody? I'm trying to figure out the average life of these batteries.

One of mine is starting to tail off a little now with only 3 Led's lighting when fully charged, but I still get about 3 hours out of it (BP-U60), it's over two years old and been worked hard. That's a reasonable life span for a lithium battery.

Alister, if you still get 3h out of it it might be that it is just the fuel gauge in the battery is out of calibration, causing the LED not to turn on. Try to run the battery all the way down and see if it comes back, this would reset the fuel gauge.

No, it's not just the gauge, this battery is not lasting as long as it used to (or other younger ones I have) and I have drained it all the way down a couple of times recently.

The FP series won't work becuase they are not 12V+ batteries. But my BP-40s and BP-90s that I have for my DSR-300 work just fine. I bought the V-Mount adaptor and the EX1 power cable adaptor and mated the two together so now I have a convenient external battery setup. Keep them in a pouch on my shoulder/waist and the BP-30 in the camera and I can go all day.
