Anyone using VLC player to watch MFX on a Mac ,without FCP..?? does it work ok..?

I've not got it to work well. It has lots of issues with the footage I have tested. I was able to get it to play video without audio.

Yes, it does play MXF files. If you read the manual it states that too. I believe we went through that ones. Here it is again:

Yes I down loaded calibrated to watch QT files.. but now wondered about MXF.. so wondered about VLC player as its only one down load.. otherwise it looks like two..

I'm also using VLC pretty much extensively to playback and evaluate my CD Sony XDCAM HD 4:2:2 video and audio files for clip based inspection on my iMAC with Version 1.0.5 Goldeneye (Intel 32bit) running on my 64 bit Snow Leopard OS. VLC works perfectly. VLC has some issues with interlaced video producing the jaggies where there are no jaggies and generally colouring your video files. I'm very used to looking at video on both my PC and my MAC over several iterations of VLC player, so I know what to look for and what to ignore. I find VLC will pretty much play any kind of audio or video file running on both PC or MAC platforms, so it's really quite a ubiquitous all around tool.

Yes Robin,
VLC has several different downloads. You need to know what platform and what bit you have. I personally think that all this downloads are "I do not know" proof. If you download a wrong one, the installation simply would not go. It is a time safe of course if you do know your system. If you are not sure - Download Windows zip packages (No installer needed) (32.6MB) - and when is downloaded and unzipped/decompressed (by you , by double clicking on the downloaded .zip file) just play the vlc.exe file from the new created folder by unzipping/decompressing the download you made.

For Mac - you really need to know if you are Power PC or an Intel based Mac
