REFUGE is a short film that my crew and I have been working on for quite some time now. I'm happy to say that it's finally finished -psshheww. The equipment used included a Canon HV30, Rode NTG2, Lowell Omni, Tota and Pro. I also went with a few china balls and a 5 in 1. For the car scenes (night) I tucked a few led lights from ikea in the dash and sun visors. I also was able to get my hands on a motion stabilizer (Hague MMC) which came in handy for the car scenes as well. Any questions or comments on REFUGE will be gladly accepted and appreciated.

Howdy there,

The shots are nicely done. However I feel that shorts should have a faster pacing, not the same as a feature. I want interesting stuff to happen pretty quickly. At least some key dialogue. Like the difference between a pop song and a Mozart epic. You can't take your time in a pop song like you can in a long-form symphony.

This is an excellent analogy. Thank you for posting!

Just to offer an opposing view, I personally enjoyed the slower pacing as well the scenes with the storm straight from David Lynch's hell.
I think you can (and sometimes should) slow your pace down in a short, if it's necessary. Also, I enjoyed the way the film was framed.

However, I do agree that a bit more should have happened, even if the pacing is slow I think we could've used a little more insight into the characters' situations.

Overall, I thought it was quite good.
