Hi guys
Shot this last year. Just thought I'd give it a public airing. - LOVE these moths...the colours are amazing although I have to say the high speed cam doesnt do a lot for them!

Hey Mat,
That really is very cool. What camera did you use to shoot at 800 fps? Oh & if that isn't a good representation of the colours of the moth, then i would love to see what it looks like in real life!!

Hi Bryce
Heres some shots I took with my 'proper' camera (GY HD110). These are far more representitive of how amazing these moths are.
Slo-Mo was done on an Oly Ispeed

Mat,
Very nice.
Curious, I could not find a quote for the price of one of these on line. I am always interested in slo motion. Looked at the casio exlim ex 1 but the im not that pleased with the size of the images.
can you get full 720P frames with one of these? and what does a minimilist have to pay to land one of them?
Looks interesting.

Hi Mat,
Very interesting ,is this another clip from your project?
Are the stills from the 110 from an overcranked section ?
Thanks for posting

Hi guys.
Dale - These are not consumer cameras infact they are designed for industrial usage. As I found out getting high frame rates at reasonable resolutions is a very expensive business! The system is about £20K to buy. I rented. The model I had did 800x600 up to 1000fps - The latest model I believe does 1024x768 to 1000fps and had better light sensitivity (mine required extra lighting outside in the middle of the day). These are not field units though and need mains supply or a special setup to run off batteries.
Mick - My project...'Hudson's Monarch' is now complete (well, the first incarnation for wildscreen anyway) - This was however part of the same session (3 days) I did to get stag beetle flight !
The stills are taken from a regular 25frame timeline @ 720p.
On the whole I wouldn't reccomend this camera due to the light requirement, but maybe the latest versions are much improved !??
