I've had my z7u for about a year now and I may have never used the component out, I can't remember a time. Well, I tried today and noticed that the color is quite off. It's got a very strong green tint to it. The cable to connected well both at the camera and monitor, I tried two cables and the result is the same.

Another camera looks fine into the same input of the monitor.

When I switch to 480i out of the component the color looks a bit closer to accurate but still off just a bit. Going back to 1080i makes it greenish again. Looks a bit like the Matrix tint.

Any ideas on this? I don't think its worth it to me to get it looked at, I generally use HDMI out anyway, but didn't know if anyone had any thoughts.

Thanks!

I'm sure you checked, this, but did you have the right cables connected to the right colors? The is one down side with component, is that it is easier to mess something up with it.

Though if it looked better in SD than HD, the cable connection probably isn't the problem. Still I would try that 2 or 3 times just to make sure. If any of the RGB is off, then you'll be getting bad colors.

How does the composite & HDMI look? Do you know anyone else with a Z7 (or any other Sony camera that uses the same component cable, like a HC3) to test their cable?

That is all that I can suggest. Beyond that I would say if you haven't needed it for a year, it probably isn't worth paying to get something fixed that you don't use.

Yeah, I checked the cable. I actually have three of those component cables and tested two of them.

HDMI and composite look correct.
