the red and green channel seem ok, but the blue channel when i look at it is terrible!! what effect do i use to counteract this??

im using after effect 6.5

Let's get some facts straight first...

1. you shot some footage?

2. you look at this and the you need more blue?

3. is your monitor calibrated (or a broadcast monitor) so you know what you see is true?

4. you want to correct this in AE 6.5? Any other software you have?

What you need to do is use some basic color correction or color curves tools.
It has been 10 years or so since I used AE so I have no idea if or how to do
that in that program anymore. Just look for "color correction" or "color curves"
in the help etc. and you should find something.

I think Cody meant that the blue channel was pretty corrupt. Please correct me if I am wrong!

This seems to be a common trait for digital cameras. Even the Nikon D70 I have access to gives a surprisingly poor blue channel. What you can do is try channel mixing. Replace some of that old channel with good information from the green or red channel. I've never tried this with video - only stills - but it should work quite well.

The blue channel typically picks up the most video noise (and I think compression artifacts too).

thats exactly what i meant... is my blue channel picks up a lot of noise... so adjusting the blues and greens with a channel mixing filter should clear it up some?

Cody, your audience will probably be viewing the image with all three channels. If that looks fine, I would leave your image alone.

If you really want to clean up the blue channel, there are various ways of applying noise/artifact reduction to only the blue channel.
