I am helping start up a municipal access channel and could use some advice/help. We have a fiber optic line connecting our studio to comcast, and we will play the video from our end over the fiber line. I am still awaiting the comcast tech to call me about what he recommends for us to use, but in the meantime, I want to do some research.
I am looking for software that can handle 24/7 playback, preferably for Windows. I don't know whether we need a premade solution that includes the hardware, storage & software or whether I can build it myself.
One idea I have is to use 15k rpm enterprise drives mainly because they have the highest UER (unrecoverable error rate = 1x10^16) such as Seagate 15k.7 in addition to the highest reliability.
Anyone with experience and/or suggestions?
Thanks
