canon xh-a1

can someone please explain to me why i cannot adjust my focus manually while zooming slowly through a shoot? the second i stop zooming i can adjust the focus, but not during. whats up with that?

This issue has been covered at length here and I did not have to much difficulty in finding the answer using your heading as "search this forum" keywords.

Your "manual" focus is not directly operating the lens remember, just triggering the servo.
