I've probably missed something obvious, but is there any way to get the aspect / safety / etc. markers to be displayed in a monitor attached to the HM700 (using component out)? I can get the menu items displayed, as per the manual, but the markers would be nice too...

I have a Marshall V-LCD651ST-3GSDI which is a 6.5" Lightweight High Resolution Field Monitor. It has a nice set of markers that work very well. I use a cable to feed from the HD/SD-SDI port out of the 700 to the 3G/HD/SDI input if the monitor. I really like this monitor. Pricey, but worth it, and it works great.

One other thing, if you get a field monitor like this, get a cable that has good connectors and is long enough to get the job done. Make sure it has very flexible ends and not just cable into a connector. Right at the connector is a weak point as you can get some pretty sharp bends in the cables. This is where they will fail. Don't spend a fortune, but spend some money on a decent cables as well.

Here is the info on the monitor I have: Marshall Electronics - V-LCD651ST-3GSDI (http://www.lcdracks.com/monitors/V-LCD651ST-3GSDI.html)

Good luck

Steve

Steve -- thanks. I was just hoping I could rely on the HM700's markers being available on any external monitor, but I suspect the monitor I finally end up with will have them anyway (I like the Marshall line a lot). I'm currently using a large non-purpose-built monitor for studio work and the lack of markers is mildly annoying....
