I'm needing to find a glide track for my hdr-fx1. Is there one out there for that big of a camera?

I own two lengths of glidetrack based on the popular cast track and use them with a Z1 which isn't very much heavier than your fx1. They're well made and look professional but you should be aware that all track bends to a certain degree but that cast lengths like ours bend more than better designed items. The fact is that circular section or box sections bend less than a single cast unit - so little that you could well regard them as unbending for most non-critical applications like video.

I made up a DIY glide track with door track aluminium square section around 50" long and this still bends a tiny bit at the end but then again, my all up camera weight is around 8lbs!!!

I have been tinkering with a new idea, spawned by Philip, using round tube which is theoretically the stiffest and using a track with 2 x 3/4" aluminium tube there is no deflection at all. (Philip said his engineer friend told him this is the only way to go) The only "disadvantage" is that the carriage I made is no "captive" but I have had no issues with it. The carriage is basically an aluminium frame with two bits of angle running longitudinally it has 8 x 3/4" bearings mounted so the "wheels" can conform to any mis-alignment in track width too. Runs as smooth as silk and cost me less than $50 in parts!!

If you want more details I will finish it after the weekend as I have a wedding shoot today and tomorrow

Hi build one myself that works with my fx1000 and 7d and it works great.
I actually got the wider and stronger track that cost me less then $200.00 to put it all together.
