How did you get it to look so film like? Why did you use an HV30 instead of another XHA1 or another 3 chip cam? Did you do a lot of color correction and other effects? I'd love to pick your brain, man! Morgan Cox April 21st, 2010, 08:08 PM Hey Patrick, Thanks for the complements. I used Magic Bullet Looks for coloring. Also, I shot in 60i 60fps and exported in 29.97fps. Those have a lot to do with the film look. Those are the cameras I own. The HV30 happens to shoot just as well as the XHA1. I don't have access to another one unfortunately. We use the HV30 mainly for close-up b-roll. As far as effects, other than coloring, not much. I knew I wanted something right before black and white and played with a couple of frames until I got it right and colored every clip. Hope that helps some. Patrick Janka April 26th, 2010, 06:11 PM "60i 60fps" Did you mean 60i and 1/60 shutter? If not, what was the shutter speed you used? Morgan Cox May 21st, 2010, 07:39 AM Hey Patrick. Sorry for the confusion....it was 60i and 1/60 shutter. Bryan Gilchrist May 21st, 2010, 07:42 PM Looks good except for the fact that it looked like the auto-iris was on because scenes kept getting lighter and darker. Morgan Cox May 21st, 2010, 09:20 PM That's because the auto-iris was on. My color grading was not perfect either. Thanks for the critique. That is definitely something I can look to correct.
