hello,

I have been contemplating the cam for a bit now and i was not aware of the 4:2:0 sample avchd puts out. this is a low feature for me of what i am looking for. has anyone color corrected their footage yet from the nx5 and if so how did it handle the quality after. if i were to edit the footage i would be converting to prores in fcp. I am also coming from HDV which is not the greatest to CC, how would the two relate in terms of CC? thanks for the help.

In Final Cut Pro, I've had no issues with the built-in CC three-way, and I also have used other CC plug-ins like Magic Bullet QuickLooks and Boris FX's Continuum Complete 6.

cool, good to know heath. would you happen to have any footage up to have a look?

I have some stuff I'll be putting up soon. I shot a local commercial with it (and did a re-shoot with the EX1), but I don't know if I can put it up. I have to ask the owners.

But I have some other stuff I can put up, but it's raw stuff.

cool heath, yeah no worries if not. the nx5 footage is starting to pop up more. just curious how the 4:2:0 holds up to coloring, which i most likely always do(compared to my hdv now).

HDV is also 4:2:0 so it's not going to be any better than AVCHD. In fact, AVCHD is supposed to be better with the compression. If you want 4:2:2 you will need to come out of the HD/SDI out into some kind of recording device on the NX5. I think HDMI out is 4:2:2 as well. Unfortunately, the 128 gb flash memory records AVCHD. This camera is great, and has a nice soft film like look to the already sharp clean image it creates. When you get into the camera and start tweaking its color settings, you get some very nice results.
