Still getting use to a tape less work flow. I have the Sony SxS Pro 8gig card. When I plug it into my e-films Express 34 card reader nothing happens.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit but I did download the 64 bit driver for the SxS pro readers.
SXS Drivers (http://www.sony.ca/promedia/drivers.htm)
So do I need the sony SxS card reader or will a generic one work. Still trying to understand the ingest methods.

e-films Express 34 card reader is USB interface it won't read Sony SxS card (PCIe).
You can use laptop with 34 card express slot or use the camera or buy Sony SxS card reader.

Nope.
SxS is PCI based as Tuy states
e-films is USB
Sony's reader only handles PCI based cards. It has NOTHING to do with how the reader connects to the computer.
Most laptop Express ports can handle both.
SBAC only handles PCI.
The Sony SBAC-US10 SxS Memory Card USB Reader/Writer for ExpressCard/34 is USB.

You need to get something like this:
PCIe to ExpressCard Reader (1-Slot Card Drive / Bay Adapter) for Desktop Computer (http://www.amtron.com/expresscard/pcie110.htm)
to be able to read the SxS and USB based Express Cards on your desktop.

Ok...thanks all for the info. Too bad I don't have a Bay available. Just didn't want to spend the extra money for the Sony SBAC.

So in a nutshell, if my producer wanted the raw files from my SxS card after the shoot on his laptop PC, do I just plug in my SxS card reader into his computer via USB, and copy to his desktop or external drive through his laptop...does he need the driver from this site before it'll work?
SXS Drivers (http://www.sony.ca/promedia/drivers.htm)
then I can give him the VLC player to view the mp4 files? Or perhaps give him the XDcam clip browser to view material?
