If you do, all your MOV files will show up black on your Vegas timeline.
The only fix is to roll back to QuickTime 7.6.2 which can be found at
QuickTime 7.6 for Windows (http://support.apple.com/downloads/QuickTime_7_6_for_Windows)
If you updated iTunes, you'll need to uninstall it and go back to version 8.

BTW, it also breaks DVFilm Epic I (the new DSLR plugin for Vegas).

Thanks for the warning. But if you have an iPod which absolutely requires the newest iTunes just to even function, then you're out of luck. I have an iPod which requires version 9 of iTunes just to even function at all; it is not recognized at all in version 8.

Similarly, if you have an iPod and Windows 7, you're also out of luck. This is because version 8 is not compatible with Windows 7 - only version 9 is.

BTW, installing QuickTime 7.6.4 (not too hard to find on the 'net) cured my problem and still let me use the newest version of iTunes :-)

It only happens with a combination of certain versions of QuickTime and Vegas 9.0c.

Vegas 9.0d solves the Quicktime 7.6.6 problem for DVFilm Epic (http://dvfilm.com/epic) as well :)

I discovered the problem last night and wasted at least an hour on it. Thought I was going to have to go back to an old image and update everything from there this weekend.

I'm downloading v9.0d now.

I have just tested Quicktime v7.66 and it has the same problem with MOV files showing up black in Vegas v.9.0c.

However, v7.65.18.40 works!

I've searched around on here.... but I'm still not sure about this. I'm installing Vegas 9E on a new PC right now and I just wanted to know if this QuickTime/Vegas problem is now resolved (with Vegas 9E).

I'll install an earlier QT version (linked in this thread) until I know more but would appreciate any info - thanks!
