Finally Sony give up.
The Sony/Panasonic battle started with the Beta/VHS battle that Panasonic won in Europe.
The Beta SP/M2 battle was won by Sony. Now the Memorycard battle are won by Panasonic and SONY only have one way to go.
I have been testing the new cards that - not as you write - are based on SD cards but on a brand new BIO chip that will last for about 60 to 85 years. Only problem with the first models is that there is a little hole (cannot be seen on the picture as SONY had hoped this would be solved before the card was launced) In this hole you will have to give it a drop of water every day. Sony have been working on a solution where the water could be taken out of the air but they could not make it work in desert conditions - but maybe that will be solved. In arctic conditions you can use 100% clean alcohole but until now it can give some problems with erased memory. BUT this is certainly a day to remember.

IF it's true, and IF that quoted price is correct, AND IF they are as good as the Pana and Fuji cards, then they May become very popular.

BUT I suspect It's "APRIL 1" at SONY....

I think they call the air technology "air powered readable intelligent logic" but for the moment the bio chip set is using the more expensive "fast operation ordinary logic" chip set.

Sony's P2 cards could be great except for the 35Mbps throughput limitation, maximum 4:2:0 color space and needing a special $15,000 deck to play them back.
