View Full Version : Jerky, out of sync video

I'm running FCP 6.0.6 on 4 x 2.5 GHz Power PC G5. We've videotaped 15 artists using Panasonic HPX-170 P2 video cameras onto P2 cards. The files were copied from the P2 cards to an external hard drive. We then "log and captured" the footage to my computer. The footage on the first 9 artists was problem free. The video footage on the next 6 artists is out of sync with the audio and appears to be sort of weird jerky motion.

The settings on log and capture have not changed. The settings on the two cameras have not changed. The problem was duplicated when I tried log and capture on a different computer running a different copy of FCP. The footage appears to be in sync and ok when viewed on the P2 reader.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?

What settings did you record in? Are you capturing to an internal drive by any chance? You were using Log and Transfer not Log and Capture correct?

Hi, Daniel,
Yes. I was using log and transfer. Shane Ross at LAFCPUG solved my problem. I had to go in to the log and transfer screen, find the little sprocket near the top, select the preferences from the pull down menu and uncheck the "remove advanced pulldown and duplicate frames". The default is to have the box checked.
Thanks for replying.

Hey Mickey.
Good thing to know. Glad it worked out as easily as it did
