Hi Folks as a HM 700 owner with the canon 14X

I create this post if everybody can post his personnal setting about this camera.

Make sure you post wich lens do you use Canon or Fujinon.

Even if you have some setting than we can load on SDHC card it would be nice ! (CMP files ? )

Wich format do you prefer ? (1900 X 1080 or 1280 X 720)

Thanks

Mike

It's not the most popular camera ever made it seems Mike. I like the look of it though never used one, so I'm keeping an eye open here in case anyone does have something to say.

I just bought a gy-hm 700 so really want to hear about settings. I am just learning how to use it---getting ready to film interviews for a documentary. I'd like to program the user buttons for normal indoor and outdoor use. Anyway, I hope this thread develops!

I have the HM700, and I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that I typically use the default settings -- and I'm fairly happy with them. That said, I'm interested in what other users have been doing -- and there have been a couple of somewhat recent threads that had detailed settings file postings in them, e.g.: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/jvc-gy-hm-series-camera-systems/469154-scene-file-hm-700-a.html and http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/jvc-gy-hm-series-camera-systems/473695-hm700-picture-files.html. Not sure if they're what you're looking for, but I'm probably going to play with these settings over the next few weeks.

Typically settings that make a difference are the Gamma setting, knee level and slope - these both can give much extended dynamic range, detail (normally lowering it) and a few others. You can play with them yourself but it helps to know what you're doing and even to have machines like waveform monitors to see what it's doing. Some of these settings will also take levels to illegal highs for broadcast which then need to bought down in post.

Apart from lowering the detail, I've also left my HM700 at the factory settings. I tend to shoot 720P50, as I mostly film football (soccer), and that gives nice crisp pictures with room for slow-mos of goals. I'm in the queue waiting for Tim to release his HM700 instructional DVD/Bluray, as this is the first camera I've owned that has this sort of complexity of settings, and I'd love to play with things more than I do.

Have Fun,
Jim.
