Is anyone using this with the Canon 7D?

I want to do time lapse and I hear this is a great device.

I have one question. Does this have the option to take a photo instantly from the remote without having to set a time interval?

Or do I need a separate remote for that?

Thanks,

Simon

I just tested on my Chinese knockoff (which I think is exactly the same device) and taking a single photo without timer is possible. The lighter gray button in the middle functions exactly like the shutter release on the camera for me. Hold it down half way to focus, press all the way to shoot.

Look on Ebay... I got mine for less than $30 shipped, though it took 2 weeks to ship from China. It should have the same part number as the Canon version with an "a" appended.

Yes it acts as a cable release as well as an intervalometer. I also have the Ebay Chinese version for $30 and it works well. The nice feature is if the battery in the TC80N3 is flat, it will still work as a cable release only.

This one looks to be a lot closer to the canon model with the jog dial :

Hi Randy,

I just ordered the Canon model myself a few days ago. You'll be glad you spent the extra money... from what I've heard the cheap Chinese rip-offs don't last very long, but the Canon is built to last.

Hi Randy, that is the one I have with the jog dial. The brand name on mine is "Yongnuo"

Well you could buy five or six of the Chinese ones for the same cost as the Canon ;D
