Since I graduated from school in 2005 I haven't really been able to afford to shoot on film anymore. I made a big investment in 2008 and got a Sony EX1 and a Letus Extreme and a bunch of good Canon FD lenses. A year later I sold the EX1 and the Letus and got the Panasonic GH1. Here's a little write-up on my impressions after half a year of use.

Hopefully helpful for someone thinking about switching over from more expensive gear like the EX1!

Thanks for the thoughts! I recently picked up a GH1 myself, and have been contemplating swapping my Canon XH A1 for a nice set of lenses. It's been about a week, and I just can't talk myself into selling the XH A1 just yet. I think your post is spot on with my experience though, especially with regard to using the GH1 primarily for photography...

You're welcome Jay! Yes it all depends on what you do with the gear. If my main income was in making videos I don't think I would've made the switch. But as it's more a serious hobby at the moment with occasional paying jobs it was a move I don't regret at all :)
