Ive got the following Nikon glass and was wondering if anyone knows if it can be used on the canon 550 - I know there are adapters out there but not sure how they would work as some of the Nikon lenses don't appear to allow you to manually set the aperture?

These two have an f-stop ring on the lens
Nikon 50mm 1.8D
Nikon 85mm 1.8D

These two dont
Nikon 24-70mm 2.8G ED
Sigma 10-20mm 4-5.6 DC HSM

Anyone have any experience with going this way and are their any 'gotchas' ?

Oh, you've got some G glass. I've heard there are adapters for those, but honestly, I'd try to find a different solution. G glass is bad news. I wish Nikon hadn't followed Canon's lead with this...

Thanks Mike - for $250 that's decent but reading how to program it sounds fairly complicated not to mention fiddly when actually changing the aperture in the heat of a shoot. :-(

If I just look at using the 50 and the 85, im guessing I could get away with a much cheaper adapter?

Really i want a fast-ish lens with IS so I may just have to bite the bullet and go for a canon lens. The '24-105 f4 IS' would be a near ideal all-round lens if only it was a hair faster. I cant figure out why the 17-55 has IS while the 24-70 doesn't?

Oh Well...
