I shot this with an anamorphic lens adapter this week:
Alleyway 2.35:1 on Vimeo
Really pleased with the GH1 when it comes to anamorphic. Unique in the DSLR world - it has a 16:9 aspect ratio sensor, as well as allow 4:3 to fit in the frame. So if used for 4:3 photos you get a wider field of view by 33% and maintain the vertical height advantage. When used in 16:9 mode for movies you get true 2.35:1 widescreen out of it.
I love the look of anamorphics. It gives video such a cinematic feel. I enjoy positioning things in the frame, you have many more options and everything is exaggerated compared to 16:9 which now feels more like TV than cinema.
The lens I used, LA7200 was originally designed for the DVX100. Works great on the Canon 10-22mm lens at 14mm. Hope you enjoy the video!
