I'm new here so please be gentle as I'm sure this has been covered.

I will be renting this camera and will be shooting test footage in a week:

I'm on a brand new top shelf model macbookpro with 8gig ram.

I have plenty of FW hard drive.

My client told me to shoot a 3D video for a tradeshow coming up, but have never shot 3D.

Questions:
- What video editing software would you recommend and why?
- Have you ever used that camera?
- What do I need to know?
- Do I need an abnormal amount of lighting for the camera?

I'm sure more questions will arise.

The Panasonic 3D camera isn't available anywhere yet. I think the CES press release said that it will ship in December 2010.

If you have never shot 3D and this is a job for a client then I suggest you hire a stereo-cinematographer or stereographer immediately.

You should also read the books in the recommended reading section of the forum.

Then go out and shoot tests, review them on the target size 3D screen, figure out what you did wrong and how to fix it, shoot some more tests, review, and then shoot some more tests.

I'll refrain from recommending Mac stereoscopic software because I'm a little biased in that respect.

Maybe the Panasonic release was a bit misleading into letting people think 3D works like a 2D point-and-shoot camera.

How are you going to view 3D?

Because I've learned everything I know by a hands on approach, I have a hard time just hiring someone to do something I haven't even tried yet, though I will be reading some books as you recommend.

I'll have to look into the availability of the camera, the guy on the phone didn't seem to think it was an issue. I have a buddy who studied film making and has contacts at Panasonic and various rental places, so I'll look into whether or not it's even possible right now.

There are a lot of variables yet to be determined, such as how we're going to view it, etc... but I do understand we can't just plug it into a TV and expect it to look as intended....
