I have seen MKE-2 is great sound but I don't know about weddings since it would probably need to be a cardioid since I want to hide it in the grooms tie and record to a new slim recorder the DR-08. I really want to stay away from a G2 or G3 for now.

i've hidden a recorder that size in the grooms front pocket, let him know not to cause the mic to rub around in there and it works out perfect.

this was just the olympus ds30 with the factory mic, it worked perfect for that situation, I'm looking for a wired lav to pair with it.

Omni would be the best choice.

I second Glenn's suggestion. (Hi Glenn, I lived in GV from '86 - '96.) Go with an omni. That way, it doesn't matter if the mic angle changes. A cardioid is more important with a PA system where you are trying to avoid feedback.

One bummer about a pocket recorder is that you can't monitor the live sound for problems. Then again, it's not like you will stop the ceremony if you lose sound. You could fix things at the reception though...

Anyone have any suggestions for a fairly reasonable wireless XLR setup?

David,
Please define "reasonable". Your price range, quality and performance expectations.
