I stumbled on this setting a fews years back while shooting a documentary where, at times, there was nearly no light. It is unique but VERY VERY noisy, something fun but not for everyday use.

In your custom settings, move the sharpness half way down (move 2 or 3 notches to the left), the setup level ALL the way down and the color gain ALL the way down... Then make your shutter 1/60th and gain +30dB, use the aperture to control the light... here are some grabs... some of them with more action were shot with a higher shutter (1/250th) These are all RAW interlaced video grabs....

Yes, it's nice, I think it has a little bit the character of grainy 16mm film. But that's only my point of view.

Nice images, congratulations.

It does have a little bit of that character... you can turn the sharpness down even more and try it in 30P to get even closer to that look...

The black and white looks a bit like security camera footage.

LOL.. yes.... Hanson.... a little more dynamic range and DOF than security camera but I see what you mean. Not for everyday shooting... just a "look"

thats pretty awsome that your shooting hanson in the studio...i really like their acoustic stuff. they've come along way since 'mmbop'. so are you doing a documentary on them...or were you just getting footage for personal reasons? either way im jealous.

Actually I have a really great documentary that started in the studio with them and turned into a really epic/classic struggle with their label. They are really credible and this doc will prolly send shockwaves thru the music industry as I was allowed unrestricted access to phone calls with music executives, meetings, etc. If you saw the Wilco doc, story wise, the one I am finishing up, BLOWS it away.

I have submitted to Toronto and should hear something soon. If you want to check out the official website it is www.strongenoughtobreak.com I am currently re-tooling the trailer, it will be up soon...

Looks good! But don't you think you kinda got beat to market by Metallica's "Some Kind of Monster" doc?

My story falls between SKOM and the Wilco doc. This is really a story about the business/creative process in creating an album and juggling the 2. Wilco has a similar story, but the doc left way too much out. SKOM was great but more a doc about the personal trials of Metallica.

How did you get hooked up with Hanson? I can't even get kids to let me video their cars. They all accuse me of trying to get rich off them and refuse. LOL
