I have the older 503 head, which needs new legs. Would it adapt to the Manfrotto 028B Studio Pro Triman? Or would the Manfrotto 547B be more suitable?

Thanks!

Any of these would be a better fit:

tripods, heads, monopods, light stands, camera supports, lighting supports, professional tripod Product List (http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/site/manfrotto/cache/offonce/pid/1799?categoryKey=BRAND:MN:MAIN:AA:SUB1:AB:SUB2:AF&livid=68&lsf=68&child=4)

The 028B is a bit of a dog studio stills tripod and the 547B is only a 60 mm bowl, incompatible with the 503's 75 mm ball.

The 503 works perfectly on the 3046/3246 legs -- which are now basically called the 028B legs. I have the 503/3246 combo and it's fine. The 503 is a flat-bottom head with a 3/8" screw mount; it doesn't ship as a ball head, to my knowledge. I would assume the bowl/ball combo comes with the legs.

3246 or even 525 (don't know the new numbers for them) but I've had 501s, 503 and 516 heads on both sets of legs and they work fine. The 3246 is a center column that dosn't take a ball and the 525 takes a 75mm ball. Either case works just fine for the 503 head. The 3246 are a bit heavy but they can get to 8 feet high and are quite stabile and with a 516 head on them I've had a 25pound rig on them -8 feet high. Not my favorite thing to do, not recommended to do, but you do what you gotta do at the time.

BTW, no the ball doesn't come with the legs you buy that seperately. Most heads (Bogen/Manfrotto) will work on either type of legs, center column or bowl - since they are flat bottom type heads. I think about all of the Bogen heads are that way, at least the 501, 503, 516, 519 and 526 heads are.

Thanks so much for clarifying my choices.
